U.S. draws Ukraine in Fed Cup playoff

The U.S. needs to defeat the Ukrainians to compete in the World Group next year and contend for the 2013 Fed Cup title.

The Americans, led by Serena Williams, defeated Belarus 5-0 in a World Group II matchup in Worcester, Massachusetts two weeks ago to advance to the playoff.

The 17-time champion U.S. and Ukraine have never met in Fed Cup play.
